Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!
Anybody else experienced water leaking into their coal cellar?
Evening all,
I'm a newbie at posting but have been lurking around the forum for a while. I'm at the end of my tether with a leak in our basement and wondered if anybody had any advice or recommendations.
We've had extensive work done relining our internal piping but water is still surfacing through the floor of the the coal cellar of our Victorian conversion. It tends to happen when we run water through our bathroom or kitchen taps.
This hasn't been a constant problem for us - the water only started appearing a few months ago. Since then, we've had various cctv surveys done and £2000 of work relining internal pipes and replacing the gully that the kitchen and bathroom taps lead into. We've also had Thames Water to eliminate the possibility of it being a fault further down the line. The drainage company we've been using are completely flummoxed.
Has anybody experienced anything like this?
Any advice or recommendations of what to do next would be gratefully received!

Hi Claire,
I'm assuming the waste pipes from the kitchen/bathroom have been checked thoroughly. Only ask because you mention this as the possible source of the problem and that TW suggested the water in the basement is foul (although not sewage). Guessing that this waste pipework goes straight out the external wall from the sinks to the gully outside and not underneath the floor before exiting via the external wall (?)
Btw, did someone from your household watch the screen as the camera was pushed through the pipes so that damage could be seen with your own eyes.? When you say the internal pipes were relined where were these pipes - inside the house? Normally lining is applied to external pipework underground.
(and now reading Tris's comment the suggestion of using dye is also a good one!)
