In the aftermath of the disorder various opportunities are opening up with respect to funding for local projects. These funds are quite large and detailed below:

Community Action Against Crime - this is a Home Office Innovation Fund set up to encourage creative new approaches to tackling crime. This fund is worth £5 Million in 2011/2012 and another £5 Million for 2012/2013. The aim is to encourage voluntary and community groups to work with their local Community Safety Partnership to tackle local crime and community safety problems. The fund is open for applications between 5/9/11 and 1/12/11 and there are 2 tiers of grants (Tier 1 - Up to £15,000 per year for 2 years and Tier 2 - between £15,000 and £50,000 per year for 2 years).

Community First - This aims to develop community led projects in areas of significant deprivation and only applies to the following wards:

- Bruce Grove

- Northumberland Park

- Tottenham Green

- West Green

Funding varies from £34,000 to £85,000 depending on the ward.

The local authority is also bidding into the Big Local Trust - Funded by the Big Lottery Fund which is providing £1 Million for Haringey over a 10 year period whose aim is to enable people to make their communities better places to live in by developing the skills and confidence they need to identify priorities that matter to them and to take action to change things for the better. The ward identified is Noel Park.

I need your help in promoting these so can I ask that you pro-actively seek worthwhile projects in your areas and provide them with the information around the available funds. Please feed back to me the names and detail around specific projects you have identified and encouraged. In due time I am hoping that the Local Authority will provide a list of those projects that they are aware of and when received I will also forward this to you for visits.

Please contact me if you require any further information.
