Hello all.
We have a large tree in our garden that requires cutting back and having Ivy removed as it is growing uncontrolled on this tree. Can anyone recommend a good tree surgeon who can perform this task and remove the waste please?
Many thanks.

I've always used Tomlinsons - excellent and reasonable. No website but they're on 020 8342 8679
I used Tomlinson too, a few years ago, and was happy with the service.
They are based in Crouch End.
At the time they used to have a website.
I have used Eugene too and found him knowledgeable, helpful and very correct. He did an excellent job with our tree which needed taking out all together - no small feat! I would definitely recommend him.

The owner responded immediately to my initial query, arrived at the house exactly at the appointed time. Cost slightly less than others and did a perfect job.
The question of ivy on trees is debatable, in that it does no damage to the tree , it has its own separate root system, and thus doesn't take any nutrients from the tree. It is also a lovely place for birds [especially robins and wrens] to nest, and is one of the last wild plants to flower in the year, and thus provides valuable food to bees to stoke up on before they pack up for the winter. Ivy grows up the trunks of trees so doesn't [usually] interfere with leaves. So leave the Ivy to do its thing!. Tree Trust for Haringey
