Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!
another gang fighting group on 29 bus tonight
Was really scared at level of aggression -happened about 7:15 pm - big group teenagers (more girls than boys) got on around Manor House, they started arguing, shouting, jostling, pushing, pointing, threatening each other, right next to me, swearing loudly, facing each other off. They frightened all passengers, I always get on front of bus, since another gang fight happened on bus c. 2 years ago and a large knife missed my face by inches. So was extremely nervous this time in case another knife produced. Managed to push through and get off bus, way before my stop, but quite frightening. Waited for another bus, don't know what happened then.

Perhaps connected to the events mentioned in this other discussion? Scary for this to happen on a crowded bus at such a busy time...Good you are ok.

they will stab you in an alley, they will stab you at a bus stop, they will stab you in chicken cottage, they will stab you in Sainsburys, point is, Kinsella and the ConDems can use all the millions of pounds they can scrape together to teach the ugh, kids.. i mean we say kids, youths, what the hell happened to this place, this country???!?! where was i, oh yes, teach the kids the " fear and Fasion" about knife crime, ok i hear and see what is trying to be achieved but some questions a school of 500 pupils, one pupil is stabbed, does that mean 499 pupils now know the reality of knife crime? do we not think that since this level of aggression reached new heights, all these kids little ears pricked up everytime someone got stabbed, did they not think "oh thats what happens when you stab someone, they die and their family grieve", i just think we are past the point of "educating", that annoys me too, we now need to teach kids how to be a human being, how to be autonomus, how to think...woah something is really really wrong, we will now patronise kids on a daily basis rather than giving them a hiding, ive said it before and ill say it again, does anyone on this forum want to start a vigilante group????

Thanks for doing that. What was also really bad is that we were in front carriage near driver. HR did nothing to intervene or stop the bus. I'm fact I got up as I cd not tale it anymore pushed thro gang and banged on drivers window - wanted to get out bus. He wouldn't open doors until proper stop. Forced to stand by door with group all screaming at etc.other.

Although I'm sure this was a very intimidating and upsetting experience, I think we should be careful about using the word "gang" about a group of teenagers, no matter how unpleasant and bolshy. It kind of implies that all teenagers are involved in organised crime, rather than just being anti-social.

Disagree strongly, I'm afraid - "gang" doesn't just mean criminals, it generally means a group of people, especially young people, people who work together (a gang of labourers) and a criminal gang. Who hasn't said "I'm going out with the gang for a few drinks tonight" or something similar? I agree that we shouldn't tar all teenagers with the same brush, but this isn't just one brush to tar them with...
