Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Another bar opening. Another restaurant opening. Goodbye High Street.

Selale appears to be expanding again.

They have put in a planning application for a Tapas Bar to replace the retail unit next to them.

The application is, as is often the case, somewhat confusing.

Firstly in the design statement it strongly suggests that this will be a place for food...

The client would like to expand their catering brand by launching a Tapas Bar where customers could experience new menus in a contemporary atmosphere.

Odd that there is no plan for kitchen facilities. The new and exiting menu must be coming from the grills next door.

It is also strange that the application is for conversion from A1 (Retail) to A4 (Drinking Establishment), rather than A3 (Restaurant and Cafe).

Once lost, these retail spaces do not return. I imagine a licensing application is already in, or soon to follow.

I hope the active councillors in the ward (Karen Alexander and David Schmitz) take time to have a good look at this one.

I would also hope for a public opinion from the GLSG.

Again, the GLSG do not give public opinions because of the organised crime/protection racket atmosphere that exist(s/ed) on Green lanes.

Thanks for highlighting this Phil. I share concerns about the continued loss of A1 use class. If things carry on unrestricted we will loose the diversity that makes Green Lanes special. I'll be taking a close look at the planning application.
Im not sure how I feel about this, had the letter the other day. I live right near this and can never park as it is. Also the mews flat residents have no wheely bins and therefore use other residents bins or they dump bags in the street.the council do nothing currently to stop this and I bet no consideration will be given to the impact of more residents and restaurant customers on a busy end if the street.
