The 7th Anatolian Cultural Fete will be in Clissold Park from the 8th – 16th June 2013. This free festival includes cultural exhibits, foods, crafts, and performances.
The grand opening, taking place on Saturday 8th June at 2pm includes a line-up of live shows including the Ottoman Marching Band, Whirling Dervishes, cooking contests, traditional theatre and Oil Wrestling.
The Anatolian Cultural Fete is desigedn as a family event and throughout the week-long festival there will be with international and local music, traditional costume dress-up, Ottoman Art of marble painting, calligraphy and art exhibitions.
The food and drink will be one of the festival's main attractions and for we Harringaeites, may be somewhat coals to Newcastle, but welcome nonetheless, I'm sure. There will be traveller’s marquee (Nomad Tent) where you can taste the most delicious ayran (a popular yoghurt drink).
