Pleasure, glad it worked. And thanks for posting this, have signed too, hoping it gets to 100,000.
77324; > 2000 since yesterday. Well done Re for changing the title.

The first thing to observe is that the Britain-bashing is as unhelpful as it is wrong; FGM is only a "very British problem" because we have given shelter for generations to people arriving from countries where FGM is the norm. In any event, as I have said publicly in the past, there needs to be a leaf taken from France's book where there are COMPULSORY EXAMINATIONS of children from "at-risk communities". That would be a lot more use than mere talk of a "multi-agency approach".

Almost 80,000. Keep signing that petition folks.

In Leyla Hussein's documentary  The Cruel Cut  they write to the Home Secretary Teresa May, getting a standard and pretty vague reply not from her but a minister. They then decide to stand outside May's constituency office to try and catch her; May leaves via a back door. Not encouraging.

That's why this petition exists - to try and bring about a debate in parliament and eventually a better outcome for dealing with FGM. At the moment the Tories & Lib Dems coalition are not listening.

& now these brave women have to endure this!

Campaigners against female genital mutilation have been subjected to vile threats and abuse since they took part in a documentary about their fight.

Why aren't the Met tracing these text/twitter threats? We all know they have the technology to do so. Channel 4 or any other media organisation for that matter could probably do this, then confront these cowards on camera.

Petition count; 80,129

Just seen this on the Gvt website  e.petitions.direct.gov.uk    “If you collect l00,000 signatures your epetition could be debated in HoC.” No guarantees. Continuing the wider debate at colleges, workplace, religious places etc etc. is crucial. Write to your MP let them know of your concern, and ask for their support for action.    So keep signing, but keep talking too.
