Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Looking for alternatives to Amazon? (Other than the Big Green Bookshop, of course, which I use whenever I can.)

Alibris is an online marketplace specialising in 2nd-hand (and new) books/music/DVDs and seem pretty bone fide, with a social responsibility ethos.  Also efficient - I ordered a book this morning and it has already been shipped. So far they don't seem to belong to Amazon, which is not the case for Abebooks and Book Depository, both of which have been bought out.

I'd also suggest a phonecall to the Big Green Bookshop. Obviously they prefer to sell us new books. But understand that not everyone can afford to buy more expensive and less common titles - especially when they are £25-£35+

Avoiding Amazon and getting help finding a title from the BGP will mean paying them a small commission. But - as the slogan nearly says - because they're worth it.

Green Metropolis - https://www.greenmetropolis.com - allows you to buy and sell secondhand books from individuals with an option to pass money to charity.

There have been quite of lot of articles showing how Amazon wasn't always the cheapest option for books or other stuff anyway and, for myself, an Amazon-free life is turning out to be OK!

I have a friend who goes onto Amazon every day and contributes five reviews for random products, all of which just say 'pay tax.'

Thank you so much Maddy, I've been looknig for the very thing!
