The Crouch End Alternative Clothes show promoted 'low impact clothing'
The Hornsey Vale Community Centre and Transition Crouch End ran an 'Alternative Clothes Show' last Sunday to raise awareness about the ethical and environmental impact of the clothing industry.
In addition to a range of stalls there was a 'real people all ages' catwalk show with clothes modelled by locals. The show was split into sections for 'fair trade', 'charity shop', 'makers' and 'upcycled'. A more theatrical element was introduced with the 'Spirit of Meadow Orchard' show and, in a section all of his own, our favourite Crouch End 18th Century gentleman buccaneer, Robin.
The event hit the right note balancing god local entertainment with a serious message about looking good whilst minimising the impact on the planet.
Hornsey Vale Community Centre run a wide range of events. Whilst many, like this one, are advertised on HoL, you can also see what they get up to at www.hornseyvale.org.
