Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Ally Pally Beacon Sends the Borough's Birthday Wishes to Her Maj

In a brief ceremony up at Ally Pally this evening the Mayor of Haringey lit a beacon to bean our birthday wishes to the Queen. It was part of a nationwide chain of 900 becaons lit in celebration of Britain's longest-reigning monarch. The lighting followed a chorus of God Save the Queen and Happy Birthday from the crowd.

This was the view in the other direction. It's amazing how much becomes easier to see at night.

10 Minutes earlier, looking over Harringay, I was surprised at how visible the key features of the Olympic Park are.

Thanks for this good story. I wish I had been there to join the singing and celebration. The Queen has served the UK and Commonwealth well since World War 2 and been a good role model for a head of state to the world.
