Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Alexandra Palace - Emergency Preparedness Exercise on Monday 20th February

I have just received the following notice from the Council's Emergency and Business Continuity Manager, lest people be alarmed by the unusual activities which are planned for Monday.

If anyone has any queries, I'll be happy to forward them.

David Schmitz

Liberal Democrat Councillor for Harringay Ward

Dear Councillors

I am writing to make you aware that an emergency exercise will be taking place at Alexandra Palace on Monday 20th February.  This will be a live exercise, giving the emergency services, the Council and NHS partners the opportunity to practice their role in responding to a major incident, in a realistic, real-time simulation.

The exercise will be visible to residents and park users to some extent, as there will be a substantial presence of emergency services vehicles.  Work has been undertaken to ensure Alexandra Palace staff are ready to deal with queries.  There is a possibility that people will be concerned, and we do want to do what we can to allay concerns.  So please do feel free to pass this message to anyone you feel would be interested.

I would also like to stress that testing and exercising of emergency plans is a routine part of ensuring all services are ready for major incidents.  Alexandra Palace have been extremely generous in providing a venue for the exercise.   I’m also very grateful for the significant numbers of people who have come forward to participate as “actors” in the exercise.
