Today 8 May 2026 I've just had another call from "Emma" a woman's voice that initially claimed to be a person representing a voluntary organisation seeking donations.
I interrupted "Emma's" script to say that they are not a person but a machine.
"Emma" then said they were an "Ai assistant" organising the volunteers who were actually speaking to potential donors.
I said "Emma" should alert humans who'd hired a machine. In my opinion this method of gaining donations risked damaging the organisation's human-to-human relationship with potential donors.

It occurs to me that in a world where people stand for election as "paper cansidates" - meaning having no or very slim hopes of winning - we might find ourselves speaking with an Ai voice.
Alternatively an Ai voice could be hired to pretend to be the real candidate.
I once saw a video of the actor Ben Crystal visiting New Zealand. He talked on the Englsh accent of William Shakespeare. Ben Crystal said that people who like one another may modify accents a little towards the other person.
Could an Ai machine do this?
Are HoL members experiencing such manipulative practices?
