Hoping that someone else has already solved this given we have very similar houses...
We want to have roman blinds in our back bedroom but this is where the window frame goes all the way to the ceiling. We have nice upvc frames and wouldn't want to drill into them (would lose guarantee and generally feels wrong).
Has anyone else already solved this?

Could you drill into the top of the ceiling, just in front of the windows? So the blinds hang straight down from the ceiling? I could only find roman blinds that came in a cartridge type thing which just didn't work with our windows and I didn't like the look of them. So I ended up just making some roman type blinds, but we did have space in the wall about our window frames to drill into.
You can safely drill into upvc, the bit of the frame parralell to the ceiling, with no glass in it. Use a 1 or 2 mm drill bit and then use self tapping screws. It works and is strong enough (I have done this for roller blinds). It a bit fiddly and you have to be precise.
