Hi Ciara,

Always good to hear someone so keen to pick up an instrument!

I should say first of all that I am by no means a qualified guitar teacher. But I've always been very keen to try teaching, and have certainly improved a few of my friends' playing on a very informal basis.

I've been playing steel string acoustic guitar for exactly 10 years, I mainly do it for recreation, but have played in bands, and performed to smallish audiences on my own plenty of times. I'm into most music, and i'm pretty confident that I could give you a good start in any style of guitar playing you may be interested in.

There are a couple of things I definately couldnt teach you. First is if you want to read sheet music to a high standard I could only teach you the basics. I'm classically trained but not on the guitar, and my ability to read music on a fretboard is limited. Secondly I'm not a speed guitarist, so if you want to learn things like fast picking I couldnt really help you.

So if you're interested drop me an e-mail, i'ts probably best if we had a chat and you can decide for yourself if I'm qualified enough to teach you. Also, as I'm not a 'teacher' as such I'd really only ask a very small sum for my time.
