Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I recently came across a newly posted You Tube video by Geoff Marshall all about Turnpike Lane Tube Station. He talks about both its history and its architecture. His channel covers anything to do with public transport infrastructure and can be quite nerdy. He makes a claim that Turnpike Lane originally had lifts but someone even more nerdy than him shot that down in the Comments.

However the video is very informative. It also covers the possible proposed location of the St. Ann's Road Tube Tube Station that was never built. Here is the You Tube link:-

Thanks MJ, a fun video.

If Geoff had looked on HoL. he'd have found the answer about the proposed site of the proposed station in Harringay.

Ten years ago, I posted a quote from Mike Horne's book about two nearly tube stations for Harringay. That reveals that the station was sacrificed in order to maintain journey speeds.

Above my comment is Stephen's comment which confirms that the location of the proposed but never built Piccadilly Line station for Harringay was at the corner of Colina Road. (Stephen is an expert on the history of buses or tubes in London and if he offers information, I am very inclined to take it as fact).

Stephen wrote:

"The proposed station site had been used as an entry point during tunnelling and was later used as a ventilation shaft."

The ventilation shaft site was acquired by London Transport with the purchase of 7 and 8 Harringay Villas in 1931. Purchasing the Coliseum Cinema (that used to stand on the corner of St Ann's Road opposite The Salisbury) and perhaps part of the Salisbury Promenade Building to its north would have been far more expensive.  I don't think I've ever heard the suggestion that The Salisbury site was ever considered. I don't think that was ever an option.
