Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Some of you may have known that the Paul Simon franchise on Green Lanes (which is the residential sales and lettings side, not the commercial side) was up for sale.

Well, it's been taken over by some of the team formerly at Bairstow Eves on Green Lanes, including Richard and Reuben.

And I'm pleased to say that they are already proving themselves an infinite improvement on the old incumbents. I can't go into details but they have given Alan Stanton and I an immeasurable piece of assistance in a very difficult planning permission issue over an unlawful development and it's safe to say that without their help, we would probably not have been successful. The help was given freely, for no gain and at some risk.

In conversations with them, they have also said that they are well aware that they need to start building bridges with the community because of the way the old owners carried on their business (including, they noted, in relation to estate agents signs).

I'm not sure if they've joined HOL yet (hopefully soon) but they certainly pay attention to it and I'm sure would welcome greater dialogue with HOL'ers in the future.

Oh but the Paul Simon franchise is so valuable they've held onto the name?
You don't buy a franchise and then change the name. The whole point is you buy the rights to run a franchise under the franchise name.

If it was financially successful when they took it over, they've no need to try to improve the reputation, so fair do's for trying.

If it wasn't financially successful when they took it over, fair do's for taking on a failing business.

(Sigh) I do hope this isn't going to turn into another one of these bash-an-estate-agent threads. Last time that happened was when Steve Hatch joined (and the abuse was vindictive and petty) and look what a boon to both HOL and the community it's been since he started to dialogue with us. Salisbury signs removed? Salt paid for? So give these guys a chance.
The name Paul Simon is currently mud. I'm just sayin', that's all.
I know. And the good thing is they know it too. And want to change it. And have already set about that. So everyone should win. Hurrah!
Bushy, any idea whether Richard Bartelous was one of the Bairstow eves lads who took over at Paul Simon? Whether or not, he's a good chap.
I know a Richard from BE was one of them (and a colleague of mine who bought his house through him while at BE also spoke highly of him). Don't know his surname.
That's the man, then.
Are we praising paul simon ? i'm confused because of their awful record.
If they're a new outfit i'm prepared to watch and wait. But don't expect a warm welcome with the notorious name paul simon straight away. Thats fair isn't it ?
In the clearing stands a boxer
And a fighter by his trade
And he carries the reminders
Of ev'ry glove that layed him down
Or cut him till he cried out
In his anger and his shame
"I am leaving, I am leaving"
But the fighter still remains
