With the help of the public, local artist-publishers Simon Lewandowski (Wild Pansy Press) and Jim Pennington (Aloes Books) will assemble and print a publication compiled from the words and pictures visitors and participants in the Hidden River Festival bring us.
Using a mixture of old (typewriters and duplicators), new and alternative (a bike-powered copier-printer) technologies to give contributors a hands-on experience of putting together a publication. The book will capture the spirit of the festival and copies will be made and ready to take away at the end of the day.
Call for helpers
The organisers need people to make it happen - do you have stories to tell about the area? Plans and ideas for the future? Can you draw, take pictures, touch-type (on a manual typewriter) can you remember how to operate a duplicator? If so, please contact us using the title 'Book in a Day' at info@hiddenriverfestival.co.uk
Hidden River Festival
The New River is celebrating its 400 year anniversary in 2013. In the area around Finsbury Park, Manor House and Harringay we are holding the Hidden River Festival on Sunday 22 September 2013.
The Hidden River Festival is a celebration of local food, music, history, art, sport, and wildlife, and a great opportunity to join your neighbours in enjoying life along the New River in our part of North London.
There will be things to see and do in Finsbury Park, at the Catwalk Collective, the London Wildlife Trust North London headquarters and the Castle Climbing Centre on the West Reservoir.
Please come and join us wherever you can, to celebrate the fact that we are lucky enough to have fresh drinking water in our homes, as well as a beautiful river to enjoy.
