Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Chance for ANYONE to be a wildlife cameraman for the Beeb

The following are excerpts from an email and flyer being sent out to nature/outdoor groups around the country:

The email

I am writing regarding a new BBC Natural History series, 'To The Ends Of The Earth'. We are currently in the casting stage of the project, looking for 9 people with a deep and longstanding passion for the natural world and for wildlife of all shapes, sizes and description. The 9 people we eventually select will be given the opportunity to spend 10 weeks in some of the most remote corners of the world as they face a number of training challenges with a view to winning a year’s contract with the world famous BBC Natural History Unit.

There may be some incredibly passionate individuals out there who might be interested in this opportunity What we are keen to find above all else are people who have an understanding of the natural world, together with an bit of an idea about the context of what they are going to be potentially involved in filming, people who on the most basic level understand why it is important to explore, document and communicate the natural world in a certain way. We can show people how to operate a camera and teach the complexities of setting up and completing foreign shooting trips, but what we can't impart is a thorough desire to learn about the natural world and help others to.

This is very much an open invitation for anyone and everyone who has an interest in the natural world and we do not ask for any academic or professional background to the potential contributors.

If anyone wanted to apply to be on the show they can simply email us their name to endsoftheearth@bbc.co.uk so we can send them an application form. We are accepting these until the 26th of November, after which we would have a couple of additional casting and test sessions. The application process is sadly limited to those 18 or over, due to the rigorous demands of this project, but otherwise we are very open indeed to the widest spectrum of applicants.

The Flyer

Do you think you have what it takes to make the next Planet Earth?

BBC One is looking for nine people to take part in the experience of a lifetime. Encountering extraordinary animals in amazing locations and testing yourself to the limit, this series will culminate with one exceptional individual securing a year’s placement at the BBC’s award winning, world famous Natural History Unit.

If you are over 18 years old and you can illustrate your passion for the natural world we want to hear from you.

To apply, please email your name to endsoftheearth@bbc.co.uk and an application form will be emailed to you.
