Why didn't someone tell me about this before?
In June I booked three seats to Georgetown Guyana for 18 Dec with ZOOM. (First direct flight to Georgetown in 30 years.) When ZOOM folded the agent re-booked the whole operation with XL Leisure. I remonstrated with them, pointing out that the dogs in the street know that XL had pulled their total Caribbean winter schedule. Yes, they replied, 'that's exactly why we were able to get a large plane for the Georgetown direct flight.' FOUR DAYS later XL Leisure folded. Now we're booked with Delta through JFK, changing flights, taking 18 hours instead of 8, far more expensive. Any guarantee that Delta won't fold when I'm up the creek sans paddle in Berbice, Courentyne or Demerara? NO.
And all the time there's Harringay Airlines taking off from Grand Parade daily. Thanks Google. Thanks Hugh.
