Google's single-author answer to Wikipedia live in Beta on July 23rd
Knol, Google's single-author answer to Wikipedia, has gone live. Or at least beta. Early beta. While there is a great Knol (defined by Google as "a unit of knowledge") on unclogging a toilet, it still has a way to go. (Given the huge gaps at this stage, God knows why they chose to include such a useful article on unclogging a toilet).

I'm a little wary of Knol. A competitor to wikipedia is fair enough but when it is run by the company that is pretty much the default search engine of the Internet (and allows Google adverts to be embedded in articles), then I think there is a potential conflict of interest.
