Nilgun Canver confirmed in MEP race

So the person who told me that Nilgun had her eyes set on higher things was right. This from Londra newspaper:

Current Haringey Councillor and Chairman of Labour Friends of Turkey, Nilgun Canver, has been announced as the Labour Party’s first ever Turkish MEP candidate.

The 12-year Labour member Nilgun Canver, told London Turkish Gazette that she was honoured to be one of Labour's London candidates.

She added: "I'm really passionate about Europe and Labour and I'm looking forward to bringing that message to Londoners."

The contest to find Labour MEP candidates is due to take place in the next year and feature eight other representatives from Labour in London. All the major parties will have a similar number of candidates in the elections due next year, each of which had to go through a process of application and interview with their parties.

The role of an MEP is to vote on important issues of law in the EU and to represent their constituency in the important decision making process.
