From grumbles to thanks at the food bank

Well the year is nearly over and no one could have forecast what the year we have just had. The COVID-19 pandemic has meant that work and access to services has changed. That has effected us all, but the most vulnerable the most. That has made us angry at times. We wondered how we would cope with the increase in numbers coming to us. How would we organise the supply of food, volunteers, working in a more distanced way amongst a few major questions.

Well with some grumbling, discussions and decisions that had to be made we have been able to meet the food needs of those visiting and indeed managed to increase our offer. This has included some fresh produce thanks to our link to Haringey Food Network as well as baby products for many of our family visitors. 

It is still a season of sadness for so many. Our complaints, even protests  as the book of Lamentations (Old Testament) shows can become a prayer and with that there is hope. Myself, our other volunteers, of course our visitors as well as the Gospel Centre church are truly thankful for your support and donations It is humbling to do our bit to help and I am sure there will be more challenges a head.
