Our son, Jackson, who just turned 8, has been learning to play acoustic guitar for a couple of years now. And he's getting a bit fed up of just practising on his own each day.
His teacher suggested that a great way of keeping kids motivated is to put them together with other kids learning instruments and just let them explore. I guess a sort of mini-jam.
So we're on the look out for anyone with kids in Harringay who may be interested in hooking up their son or daughter for a bit of a jam. Could be another guitarist, a drummer, maybe even a keyboard or piano. He'll happily play anything from the Beatles to the Clash to nursery rhymes - he's being taught by a session musician called Kermit (found through HOL!) who's been very much focussed on learning to play (and not on reading or going through the key stages).
A mad idea, I know, but if it helps keep our son enthused about learning to play, that's fine by me!
PM me if you think you might be interested (or know someone else who might be).
