I'm a week late with this entry... I forgot to post it..
The last two people in the U.K. to be executed - were hung at exactly the same time in Manchester's Strangeways and Liverpool's Walton prisons 45 years ago on 13 August 1964. Later that year (on 16 October), Harold Wilson's Labour Government was elected after a period of 15 years of tory rule.
A year later, on 8 November 1965, capital punishment in general was abolished in the U.K.
