I think some of what is in the film is already known, but worrying nonetheless.
IMO, the significance is that it was made with at least some co-operation of some of the authorities. And then allowed to be watched an extraordinary number of times before being pulled. The BBC said 100m, but The Mail and the Guardian said 200m. It was a polished production (the slideshow used Apple's Keynote) and involved contributions from a number of people and organisations, including NASA and our own Secretary of State for Energy. This surely had at least some degree of official blessing.
Any dysfunctional political system will have its internal critics. The making and hosting of the film could be a hopeful sign.
