Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

£10 stalls ticket for The Nether at The Duke of York’s Theatre this Tuesday 17 February

I have a spare ticket for  The Nether at The Duke of York’s Theatre this Tues 17 Feb  The play appeared at the Royal Court Theatre last year. A play penned by the acclaimed Jennifer Haley and directed by the Headlong’s Artistic Director Jeremy Herrin, it will take audiences to a future that offers a digital and virtual reality, with dark consequences taking hold of society.

The cast includes Stanley Townsend and Amanda Hale alongside Zoe Brough, Ivanno Jeremiah and Isabella Pappas, all of whom reprise their roles from the Royal Court production from the summer of 2014.

This mentioned future is far in the middle of the 21st century, where the world offers an advanced form of virtual entertainment, a medium that can allow users to indulge in their fantasies whilst remaining unknown. But this inevitably has a dark side and our focus is on a young detective who happens upon this underbelly of dark desires, allowing The Nether to explore some topical and harsh realities.

It includes themes related to paedophilia in a digital age, mirroring the very dilemmas facing our society today, and with such a profound area to explore it is no wonder that The Nether has been the recipient of such acclaim and a multitude of awards.
