I feel rather uncomfortable about this.
We live in a CPZ and we have to buy permits to park. This still doesn't guarantee a spot, but it makes it easier, and we pay for the annual permit to do this. We then also buy visitor permits for friends and family.
The concept of these becoming saleable commodities to the highest bidder completely invalidates the scheme. If people sell them then what is the point? Bang go the parking places and someone makes a profit while residents can't park at their own streets.
Am I being overly precious?
I'm sure you're being sensibly cautious, Julia. However, it may reassure you to know that to the best of my knowledge the only permits traded on HoL are those lent or given by residents to their neighbours who have an unplanned need for a permit - look on it as the 21st century version of popping round for a cup of sugar.
Some people who don't have a car and therefore don't buy permits in the usual way need to beg or borrow 1-day permits for workmen to let them park near the job. That seems quite reasonable to me and I've passed on the occasional permit to another resident for this purpose.
I have never seen anyone offering unsolicited permits " to the highest bidder " but only in response to an appeal like this.
Dear all
I have just moved in and had no time whatsoever to do everything as i have a small baby that asks for my constant attention.
I have no car ,so ,parking permits would not be the top of my priority but unfortunately i had a need of plumbing work during the weekend and had no opportunity to go through the process of acquiring visitors permits for the following Monday. Maybe i was hoping for a more close community spirit (utopia).
Thank you for your concerns.
Marta
I can let you have a permit for today if it's not too late. 07931 785 313

Hi Marta, Welcome to the hood. Usually, requests similar to this one do get a few offers. I'm sorry there's been none this time. I'd offer myself, but I'm in the next zone along. Are you still in need of one? If so I can try a quick push on Twitter.
Dear Hugh
Thank you for your help,i have found another solution.
kindest regards
Marta
