Volunteer With The Friends Of Lordship Rec Orchard Group

The Orchard contains fruit and nut trees, soft fruit bushes, hedgerows, wildflowers and grasses. It's managed for education & biodiversity. There is a section of hazels that are regularly coppiced, and wildlife habitats including dead hedges and wood piles. We hold regular events and workshops. Under 18s welcome if accompanied by an adult. Unfortunately the Orchard is not wheelchair accessible (yet!). Dress appropriately for the outdoors with waterproof footwear and bring refreshments & gloves (we do have some available). Tools will be provided.

Meeting time: 10:00am

Meeting Location: Lordship Recreation Ground Hub -outside on the pond side

Lunch/Snack time: 12:15-1.00pm Please bring packed lunch or order in the hub in advance.

Please bring:

Suitable outdoor clothes and sturdy waterproof footwear (the activities will be outdoors in cold and possibly windy conditions and the area may be boggy)

Your gardening gloves if you have them. Tools will be provided (we have spare gloves too)

Activities may include:

Mulching, weeding around young trees, bramble cutting, wattle fence making and coppice crafts, scything, pruning (in season), tree planting and watering.
