Stroud Green artist and sculptor Al Johson will be making the designs applied to two story chairs for the Haringey Feast.
Using worked textiles, she will be capturing our memories of the high street and Tottenham High Road and the vast range of shops, businesses and restaurants in our communities that provide us with food – from the past and today.
In this community workshop, you can get hands-on and see how to stitch and work textiles whilst sharing your memories.
Book your free ticket via Eventbrite.
About the artist:
Al Johnson is a politically engaged sculptor who works with textiles. Her work considers recent history and the interplay between politics, power and the collective memory. Her sculptures are constructed principally from worked textiles. Visit her website here.
You can also pop along to Bruce Castle Museum on Tuesday 19 September, 2 – 4pm and take part in the Reminiscence Café @ The Castle to share your memories – or maybe you can bring a special recipe? Your stories and memories will help Al create content for her new community-inspired work for a story chair.
