Alexandra Palace presents the North London Book Festival! Opening with a pub quiz night on Thursday 21 March, and a Night of Crime & Thrillers on Friday 22, we then have a weekend packed with events for adults and children.
Headliners include Natalie Haynes, Michael Rosen, Lemony Snicket, Peter Hain, Robin Ince and Laura Bates.
Exciting fiction events include Costa-winner Stuart Turton (The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle) launching his new mystery; Stellar debut novelists Leo Vardiashvili & Cecile Pin in conversation with BBC journalist Robin Lustig; Local writers Huma Qureshi & Sara Nisha Adams in conversation; Bestselling authors Erin Kelly and Jane Fallon in conversation with magazine editor Sarah Bailey; Two former editors of Attitude magazine, Matt Cain and Matthew Todd, in conversation about Matt's new book One Love - and of course our night of Crime & Thrillers hosted by former president of the Crime Writers Association and lifetime achievement award winner Maxim Jakubowski who will be talking to Lord Peter Hain, Sunny Singh, Leigh Russell, Charlotte Langley and William Hussey.
Non-fiction highlights include Jay Owens with her brilliant book Dust, examining the impact on our planet of human power, politics and profit; Diane Purkiss author of an award-winning history of English Food in conversation with Lucy Lethbridge, author of an entertaining history of English tourism; Andy Stanton in conversation with Robin Ince about AI, ChatGPT and creativity; A fresh and funny female perspective on the Roman Empire with Elodie Harper, Emma Southon and Honor Cargill-Martin; A panel of parenting experts hosted by journalist and podcaster Nell Frizzell who will be talking to psychologist Dr Beth Mosley MBE (Happy Families) and Stu Oakley (Queer Parenting); Nadeine Qureshi on her experience of deciding to take the veil and live as a visibly Muslim woman; Kevin Morosky in conversation with contributors to his book Black Women Always, Kelechi Okafor, Gynell Leon and Mpho Mckenzie; Laura Bates in conversation with Nell Frizzell about her book Fix the System Not the Women; and of course rock-star mythologist Natalie Haynes of R4's Stand Up For The Classics.
Children's events include Michael Rosen, Lemony Snicket, Neill Cameron of The Phoenix Comic, and writing workshops for children aged 8-12 with Ewa Jozefkowicz and Eve Wersocki Morris.
