An intimate conversation and performance with acclaimed saxophonist Mark Lockheart, exploring the musical journey of one of the UK’s most inventive and influential jazz voices. In this short Q&A session, Mark will reflect on his early beginnings, the artists who shaped his sound, and the key achievements that have defined his wide‑ranging career — from Loose Tubes to Polar Bear, to his celebrated work as a composer and bandleader.
After a couple of questions from the audience, Mark will join Kaiyo for a dynamic set featuring a mix of originals and jazz standards, played in an interactive, conversational style that highlights spontaneity, listening, and musical dialogue. It’s an evening that blends storytelling with live improvisation, offering a rare glimpse into both the mind and the music of one of Britain’s most distinctive saxophonists.
