Steve Fishwick is widely regarded as one of the finest jazz trumpeters in the UK, celebrated for his virtuosic technique, lyrical phrasing, and deeply swinging, harmonically rich improvisation. Praised by Wynton Marsalis as possessing a voice “unmatched among his peers,” Fishwick has earned international respect for his warm tone, impeccable control, and distinctive musical identity.
As a bandleader and co‑leader, he has released several acclaimed recordings, including the hard‑swinging quartet album Up Front!, the expansive ensemble project The Freedom of Movement, and the modern post‑bop quintet release Mind‑Ear‑Ladder with saxophonist Alex Merritt. These albums showcase his mastery of the bebop and post‑bop traditions while highlighting his sophisticated writing and unmistakable sound.
Influenced by trumpet greats such as Kenny Dorham, Art Farmer, Miles Davis, and Woody Shaw, Fishwick has forged a voice that is both rooted in the lineage and uniquely his own. Based in London, he continues to perform internationally as a leader, collaborator, composer, and educator.
Also Featuring : Mark Taylor Drums, Simon Purcell Piano, Amy Baldwin Bass.
