Saturday May 30th is the fifth anniversary of the tragic death on local entertainer Jimmy C. Jimmy Coletsis was born in Canada of Greek extraction and after time spent in Japan moved to Britain in the mid 1990's. He then formed a band, the Bluesdragons, who played in many pubs and venues for the next 20 years, mainly centered on Crouch End and Hornsey, and also he toured in Russia, France, Germany and Greece amongst others! He died of cancer at the age of 61 in 2021. In the last three years of his life he married Aga, now his widow, and they were blessed with the birth of a son. Some of you may remember the free concerts during Covid lockdown that the band performed at St Mary's Churchyard, Hornsey - one of the very few live gigs still going.
On May 30th from 4pm Aga has organised a musical celebration of Jimmy's Life, doors will open at 4pm and then at 6pm there will be a showing of the documentary "Blues With A Smile", released this year and entered into a lage number of film competitions. From 7.30pm there will be entertainment by the Bakelites whose drummer and bass player were original members of the Bluesdragons and special guests including Jessie Pie, Steven Braithwaite, Flex (from Germany) and Todd Sharpville who all played and sang with the band over the years. Admission is free and all are welcome to join this celebration.
