Learn to ID local birds and bird songs on our weekly bird survey at The Paddock. Suitable for all levels. Family Friendly.
We invite you to join us at the Paddock for our weekly bird survey in 2022! Whether you are an expert or complete beginner this will be a chance to get outdoors and explore the wildlife on your doorstep.
What to expect:
- A short talk on a bird species or bird-related topic each week.
- A guided transect survey of the whole site.
- Help with identifying birds visually and by birdsong.
-The data collected will help us develop the Paddock into a Local Nature Reserve.
- By booking onto multiple sessions you’ll gain a deeper understanding of seasonal cycles, and improve your I.D. skills.
Pre-booking is essential, book now to confirm a place.
Please be aware Eventbrite booking closes one day before each surveying event at 5pm.
If you have to cancel your place for any reason, please get in touch via email@example.com or by the contact numbers below to let us know.
What to bring:
You will be issued with a field recording sheet, species guide sheets, a clipboard and a pencil.
If you own a pair of binoculars and further ID guides/books, you are welcome to bring them along.
Individual surveys will run outdoors for about an hour, please be sure to check the weather/temperature and dress accordingly.
Whilst social distancing and COVID-safe measures are no longer legally required, you are welcome to wear a mask if you would like to. Please consider others' wishes who may still want to social distance, and always wash hands before eating/drinking on TCV projects.
All ages can join in the bird survey, the route is a little muddy but buggies are welcome!
If you want to volunteer and are 16-17 years old please ensure you get in touch with us at firstname.lastname@example.org, as you will need a completed parent/ guardian consent form to join in. For everyone aged 15 and under they will also need a parent/guardian with them to attend.
We will meet at the Paddock main entrance next to the 2x green office buildings on Ferry Lane, N17 9NG.
The session will be run by Anna and Cassandra.
