From the BBC news website:

Concern over attempted abductions in Hornsey by fake cop

Anna O'Neill

BBC Radio London reporter

Police are warning schoolgirls in Hornsey, north London, to get away as quickly as possible if a man tries to convince them he's a police officer but can't produce ID.

Since Monday morning four girls have been approached by a man who's described as black, aged between 20 and 30 and of medium build.

Have you got a  link to this report?

I had a text message from my daughter's school this evening re this but no other info

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-35360264

The report has been edited compared with the original one I read.

I heard there were 2 incidents. One by Highgate Wood School and one by Hornsey Station near the YMCA

A man has now been arrested for this. Link here to Ham and High report

But he has been bailed! So basically he is out there again now.  How does that protect our kids? They are scared and it's not much of a comfort to know he is still out there.  And he might chance tactics now.

Oh he'll be locked up well and truly if he steps out of line again but they're really avoiding the criminal courts at the moment for some reason. I'd drive over there and have a bash at him with your friends, they don't seem to mind a bit of bashing between neighbours either.

The perpetrator of this has now been given a 17-year sentence and other sanctions. BBC report here:
