Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi,

I just started a Care2 petition: Make all disabled bays outside a resident home allocated to that home only. If enough people sign my petition, we can make a difference. Right now I've got 13 signatures — will you help me collect more by adding your name, and then use the link below to share it on Facebook?

Here's a link to the petition: http://www.care2.com/go/z/e/AUtCq/zoyY/c.U3R
And here's a link to share it on Facebook: http://www.care2.com/go/z/e/AUtCQ/zoyY/c.U3R

If there's anyone you know who might be able to help me spread the word, please let me know. Thanks so much -- I really appreciate your help!

This makes sense, Nick. I've signed. I, and I'm sure others, would have been even happier to sign if the petition was broader even and called for better management of disabled bays in general. One aspect, for example, is the issue of releasing disabled bays after the disabled person moves. It can take years to get the disabled markings removed in spite of growing pressure for parking spaces.

Hi Hugh, thanks for taking the time to reply. I'm really not much good at this sort of thing. My mother and I are both disabled and it has become so difficult for me to go out. It does take time to remove a disabled bay but before the bay is put there you have to go through the process of having medical evidence and checks that you need to be parked near your home. Yet most of the time someone else parks with a badge and as parking is dreadful I come home and can't park anywhere near which means I avoid going out all together. It is unfair that some boroughs allocate to the disabled resident yet Haringey does not. It is so hard living with a disability and just being able to go out and come home without this added anxiety is a help. Thank you anyway appreciate your comments

Yes it's a nonsense, Nick. I was very happy to sign and I hope the powers that be listen.

I know from personal experience how important these things are. The point of what I said in my first comment was to suggest that you broaden the appeal of your petition.

Have you previously made a request for this to happen that has not been actioned?

Thank you so much.
I've signed your petition. I hope lots on here do the same and that it makes a difference. In the interim have you tried putting up a polite notice asking other blue badge holders to not park there? I figure it can't hurt, can it? It must be awful that you feel you can't go out.

Nick, it does seem a bit weird  that both Camden and Westminster run this scheme - two densely populated areas of London where parking is at a premium - yet Haringey, which is relatively low density, doesn't!  Signed.

Can't argue with this one.....signed and shared
And me
Thank you so much
Thank you so much

I've added this to a couple of N8 Facebook groups. You might also try the other local websites.

Thank you Hugh ..I'm not too go at these sort of things but will look into it..By the way I must say always enjoy looking at the photos and that you put on here they are great and bring back so many good memories..thank you for all your help.
