Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

On a quick trot down to Turnpike Lane I thought again how pleasant it is to see people out on the street. Click each picture for a clearer version.

I couldn't help but notice how filthy the big white blocks already look with black streaks done them.... you would think the powers that be would think about these things...

They were trying to be arty and failed miserably! Would have been better to commission some participatory art work that engaged into the community. Got a wealth of local artists and communities.

Already there's an hilarious penis graffitied on the one opposite Signon. Well done you!
Actually - Penny and Henry - I think you meant bus lane rather than cycle lane...

I'm not sure what I meant!! But I think a bus lane in BOTH directions on GL for the rush hour would be good plus no parking at those times. So bus lanes from 7am to 10am and 4pm to 8pm - that might speed up traffic and help the snarl up in that stretch from Endymion Road to St Anne's Road. Sod the parking, it is one tiny stretch of road and it causes such headaches. Shoppers should park at designated parking bays on Garden and Ladder roads at that time and walk. Not sure where to put the cycle lane but there should be safety for cyclists and the GL route needs to work for them too. Wish I was a magician!!

This is the solution I would like to see too... bicycles can go in the bus lane like they do everywhere

I walked to Crouch End yesterday morning and had the impression that the area the other side of the bridge is also a lot quieter - I presume because traffic is not using Oakfield and other roads to cut through.

Endymion/GL junction is a bit of a nightmare - several drivers charging madly through on the red light, glancing wild-eyed at the northbound traffic stuck on GL and then veering suddenly in the other direction. Presumably they are still trying to use it as a through route to points east, avoiding Finsbury Park.

Love that visual image! We need a cartoon of this road madness for the campaign!

What campaign is this? What are its aims and methods?

The campaign against pollution, for safety and cycling, reducing car traffic and increased public transport. Using all methods such as cycle highways and local roads prioritised over commuter rat runs.
I saw a nice little 3 car prang as I sat eating my chips in #hashtag on Tuesday lunchtime which was much more amusing to me than it was for the 3 drivers who were all varying shades of puce... purely as an aside - how lovely is the waitress in there? A smile that would light up a foggy night and as charming as the day is long...
Isn't she fabulous! She makes you feel like you're the most important person who has walked though the door all day.
