Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

AT THIS evening's Haringey Cabinet meeting, we learnt that there is a multi-million pound overspend and the Council is to dig further into our Reserves.

--

Some folks can't think of a better way to use the £86,000 (and the rest) spent on the identity rebranding … or the £300,000 of taxes passed to Chicken Town (to start a chicken restaurant).

Those folks are likely also to be stumped as to how £914,534 could possibly be better spent. That was the sum paid out on 30 Compromise Agreements (confidentiality clauses) for outgoing senior managers.

Rather than attack the message, those same people are also likely to attack the messenger, The Daily Mail, for yesterday's article.

Excellent idea. Perhaps the Head of the Civil Service, who is a government appointee on a basic salary of quarter of a million quid a year, can give it a look over.
By the way, I assume you read the financial report. It says that if Haringay keeps spending as it has in the first six months of the current financial year it is projected to be overspent by the end of the financial year, not that it has currently overspent. The options they have is to use the reserves or to make more cuts or a combination of the two.
Sorry - are the Liberal Democrats still here ?

We've seen private banking debt re-classified as public debt and had to undergo a massive shift in public finances to tackle it.
Anyone going to prison ?
Any Senior Execs losing their jobs ?
Erm no, but LOTS of apologies, sorry expressions of mild regret, as no-one says sorry any more.

Yes, the re-branding of the council is moving the deckchairs on the Titanic, but if the Lib Dems want to crawl back into public approval, how about making some noise about a "housing policy, " which will force Haringey and other councils to dispose of housing stock and then pay private landlords inflated rents for the same property.......

Some of us are more "in this together, " than others !

Clive, come back when you've got something to say.
