Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

This week on Monday, Haringey's tactical enforcement team ran 'Operation Twilight'. Haringey say this is "an intelligence led operation involving the Street Enforcement team aimed at tackling the unlawful deposit of trade waste outside normal working hours".

Tactical enforcement and Street Enforcement officers worked through the late evening and nigt visiting areas suffering from an increase in fly-tipping. This included Harringay's stretch of Green Lanes.

The Council say the operation was very successful and in Harringay they issued :

  • 2 fixed penalty notices of £75 to businesses for unlawfully dumping trade waste
  • 1 fixed penalty notice of £100 to a business for failing to use their trade receptacles in the right manner.

For further information, contact Chris Georgiou at the Council on Ext 5195.

Wow £250 in fines and they call that "very successful"...I guess now they can afford sending teams out in the middle of the night given the huge savings from those new LED lights. Probably spotted the guys thanks to the new lights. What a joke

To be fair, I imagine they're looking to disincentivise dumping as much as earn revenue. Let's hope it works.

They worked through the late evening and night and only found 3 illegal flytippers? I could have shown them more than that if they asked and saved them a lot of time. And the fines are so paltry that no-one is going to be deterred at all. You could get £75 for dropping a piece of litter I believe (not that anyone round here gets fined for litter.)

I agree with Dominik, it's a joke. Its another example of the Council appearing to look like they are tackling a problem, getting tough,  when really it's just a PR exercise and nothing will change.

Totally agree
