This and the associated application to demolish more of Tottenham's Historic Corridor illustrates the cynical approach THFC has adopted to its redevelopment of the football stadium at White Hart Lane. The club is not content after having demolished the entire traditional street facade along the east side of the High Rd. It has been buying up property in the area for some time. A great many drinking and fast food establishments catering almost entirely to football fans have mushroomed in proximity to the existing ground. They are colluding with aharingey Council and promoting further demolition of people's homes and businesses. Hotspurs are amplifying the effects of deprivation and so blighting the area to the extent that people are desperately crying out for 'regeneration'.

Now these arrogant people and their sycophantic council followers are proposing what was also proposed at Wards Corner...to demolish beautiful, albeit modest, locally listed buildings that give us all a sense of pride and relief from the bland corporate architecture, that make the place unique in a way, and package a few architectural remnants and photos in some sort of mock show to keep us 'quiet'. An 'Experience' that they wil control and that we'll have to gain access to instead of just being able to have a lovely High rd. they would not get away with this in West London!

It shows the level of comtempt these people have for the community that they are based in. It doesn't have to be this way. Most people can see the benefits of having the THFC ground based in White Hart Lane. I must say that I personally do not think it is appropriate location for such a massive scheme. They should have been allowed to go to Stratford and redevelop the initial site for mixed use - residential/commercial/academic and service industrial. However that does not seem plausible now.
So you should read the objections by Tottenham Conservation Area Advisory Committee as well as that of the Victorian Society to understand that reasons why I accuse them of the utmost cynicism. Much of the reasoning for demolition is obscenely dishonest.
Sigh!

Hi JJ, many thanks for the video. 

I completely agree with you that there has been a massive steam roller in that the Council have allowed local businesses to be displaced. However, it really is undeniable that the area does need investment and transformation and that the works would be beneficial to the area as a whole.
