Doe PR spin  do this? Normal systems and processes should handle this as wells as the setting of goals and objectives along with control and training, all part of good management!

And if the REALITY on the ground doesn't support the spin you get tremendous cognitive dissonance, which is what Haringey's new logo typifies!

Some of the info on the website is out of date though, badly laid out and confusing.

For example, I had a look today at the school term dates for this year and the first lot of term dates on the website are for 2016-17, and then it refers to 2014-15 as the current academic year. Not to mention the page was last updated on 3rd July.

T&WG Independent says "Red and black is used as the colours of London to show the major role Haringey has in the council". I'm not sure if they are quoting someone from the council but wtf does that mean?

It reminds me of the Roblox logo tbh.

I agree that the website is much more user friendly and modern. It troubles me that everyone depicted on the image carousel is a child, however...it isn't a school website and its surely an almost purely adult facing resource.

Hugh, have you recently used Haringey's Planning Portal?  I wonder what you think of the changes there.

Would it be a bit 'IRISH' of me to suggest that the recently doubly bereft WOODSIDE WARD be voted a matching £86,000 towards the erection of two busts of PATRICK ALPHONSUS EGAN and GEORGE FRANCIS MEEHAN, surmounting a plaque proclaiming; "We are well OUT of this charade - best bloody career move we ever made. And if they had really wanted to know about "warmth, compassion, creativity, energy, authenticity and charm," why the hell didn't they ask us before we left?"

OK... Having waded through the usual pages of party politics, point scoring piffle and general middle class whinging, I only have this to say. If they managed to do all that for £86,000... Hat's off. As a design industry professional, I can tell you that, that doesn't buy you very much, in the lucrative world of re-branding. The logo, as any logo might be, is fairly meaningless to those that live within the borough. The whole idea is to present Haringey as something other than the deprived and 'cuts destroyed' borough you ALL seem to think it is.
I remember much carping about the London 2012 logo, and what a success that event is now seen as. The video was perfectly fine, and I recognised a great deal of what I've enjoyed about being a long term Harringay resident in it, and maybe it will strike a chord with those the council is claiming to entice here. Anything that improves the perception of Haringey should be welcomed. The council itself is, yes, pretty piss-poor, but maybe they are slowly recognising that fact and credit should be given where it's due. So possibly a 7 out of 10 for this one, and and extra point for they fact that they seem to have annoyed so many of you. (Mr Anderson appears to be the voice of reason in this particular debate though). Maybe some of you are so unhappy, tired and jaundiced about living here, you should move to a traditional logo'd borough like Kensington and Chelsea, or better still... Enfield.

Shem, I'm sure you're right about the world of re-branding being lucrative. I note you're a Design Industry Professional. In your professional opinion, you think that the Borough is devoting enough resources to Public Relations, or do you think residents would benefit from a greater spend?

Well, having read your persistent running down of the council, they probably need to spend a great deal more just convincing you, don't they?
I'm sure £86,000 could be better spent on books for libraries, or cleaning our streets more frequently. And as you've so splendidly demonstrated by your constant moaning on HoL, there are many people who don't think that Haringey as a borough or a council is as good as it could be (We've all felt like that I'm sure and I've certainly had my run ins with them).
But, here is an attempt, however badly thought out, you may think it is, to try and perhaps stop the rot. Maybe you should look at that as a positive, and maybe you should think about whether you're proud to be a Haringey resident or not, and for the want of a better phrase decide whether you are 'in' or not.
As for resident's benefits, I preferred it when the fireworks were free, when Disney's felt there was a future on Green Lanes, and there was still a dog track. But Clive, things change, maybe you should too. By the way, as a design industry professional, the old logo was really bad. Really bad. I much preferred the one from the 1930's, but I'm sure that had it's detractors at the time.

The Council didn't need to spend any money on this. The old logo was perfectly fine, did the job and gave the message that local government has serious business to transact. This new logo and the hype that Haringey is 'an attitude' is vacuous PR drivel. The fact is the Council has to engage with the judiciary, many different external bodies, and other agencies of government. This just looks like something out of an adventure playground so who knows what other professional bodies will make of it. 

£86k maybe nothing to you design professionals but it would almost fund a children's cnetre in a school for one year, or fund two youth work jobs, or fund enforcement officers.  The only attitude it reveals is that those who commissioned this don't seem to appreciate what really is important to local people.  I doubt that would include a new logo.
