Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I reported the council to the council for fly tipping in Duckett Road! Next to us is a council care home and they have been doing alot of renovations which means the whole garden was overflowing with rubbish and then a mouldy sofa and two huge boxes of rubbish were dumped on the pavement outside the house.

I called the council hotline and they said they would remove the stuff asap. I quite enjoyed telling them it was one of their properites and there couldn't be one rule for us and one rule for them....

Wonder if they'll fine themselves?! I suggest you take photos if it happens again and email councillors. Lots of builders/renovators etc seem to think the pavement is part of the property they are doing up and that its okay to dump stuff on it. Never mind the blind/partially sighted, the elderly, people with wheelchairs, buggies who then have to get round it...or the fact its illegal.
Hi Karin,

Could you please confirm if this is Cassini House at 13 Duckett Road? And did you get a helpful response?

Although it's not in my ward (I'm a councillor for Tottenham Hale ) I ask because I've seen similar problems elsewhere. Many people imitate behaviour they see around them.

So just as a few builders leave their detritus, I've also challenged other people. For example, someone coming out of sheltered housing who was leaving a rubbish bag on the pavement. ("It's from my mum's room" - as if this that was an excuse.). And (apparently) a member of Haringey staff who dumped some large cardboard boxes.

While these cases are (hopefully) rare, they add to the garbage on the street. And it's something which the Council should have a bit more contol over.

My money reply, from Council will be that it was not their Staff
But Contractors

If Haringey - they believed another team would clear it before end of Day
But still a Offence and danger to other Road / Pavement users

As posted a picture tells a thousand words
Well remembered from my Day's as a Borough Enforcement Officer

When contacting Offices over Rubbish or Obstructions
We have cleared it whats the problem now
Or challanging your report - trying to bluff their way out of it

Best one was failure to get Skip or Materials License
And being on site and advising delivery Drivers that to put it down without
a License would result in them being fined

Comes back to the Council Inforcing the many laws and Act's that Cover our Streets and pavements
Well done you! I hope they responded quickly, particularly as the council is aiming to be the Greenest Borough in London.
