Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

It has been a dry start to the spring/summer and already a few plants in planters and raised beds around the Ladder are beginning to look a bit floppy from the lack of rain.

I was told today that we might expect 3 more months of this type of weather, so (as this critical phase as trees and plants start to establish themselves for the season ahead) please tip some water on a raised bed/ tree/ planter near you.

Younger trees especially are most vulnerable, and the plastic pipe at the base of many trees is designed to get water to the trees roots rather than run straight off the hard earth at pavement level...

Yes, small trees planted in Ladder/Gardens roads recently need water in any dry spell - walking around with a watering can isn't difficult or time-consuming.

Can we promote this again please? There are some very sad looking trees around, and so it would be a good idea if everyone could help by e.g filling up a used milk bottle with water and watering our wonderful trees.

Hugh posted the other day on this topic. Something I tried to get started last year was tree adoption, where there is a new tree (especially) outside someone's house I tried to get folks to volunteer to take the tree under their wing and let me have their email address so I could occasionally remind folks to go water their tree.

I might try to restart this and have just checked my list again. Bec, if you know anyone I can add to this list please do let me know (including your good self if you have a tree outside your house...).
