Looks like a fascinating event emphasising the importance and the abundance of green and blue infrastructure. Sometimes the generosity of open space goes unnoticed, but here they are mapped effectively and proper links identified between acting as a catalyst for a new opportunities - like a Natonal Park! Not such a far fetched idea in my view! I studied similar things in my final year of university. The cities has chains of green spaces linked by routes like the capital ring.

Tell us more about the event? Living next to Chestnuts Park I am witnessing the demolition of the pavilion with the local friends group debating what to do next.

It is best explained on the Greater London National Park website They have a Facebook Page and are on twitter @LondonNP They are looking to be the glue to connect many ideas for a sustainable, green London promoting its great open spaces etc.. They are campaigning for people to join the campaign. Some of the high profile groups that are already members.

Thanks having a good read.

Any other particular highlights?

One great highlight was an inspiring speech from Judy Ling Wong President of the Black Environment Network (Ben) http://www.socenv.org.uk/news/archived-news/honfse-awards-summer-20... http://www.ben-network.org.uk/ and also great boat trip afterwards to give a fun networking opportunity. Good to see there Haringey Botanist David Bevan and Tottenham-born Birder David Darrell-Lambert was there. To see all speakers see files:

What do you want from this National Park? Your chance to give ideas: http://www.greaterlondonnationalpark.org.uk/get-involved/consultation/ Closes 6th March

This has received the backing of the London Assembly

Also the founder of the idea, Daniel Raven-Ellison and Matt from the Londonist plus others tried to visit #33openspaces in 33 boroughs in one day to publicise it yesterday (a gallant failure). They managed about 20.

They are now looking for Crowd Funding. (I have supported this.)
