The Friends of Finsbury Park are revisiting our events policy. One of the questions we need to answer is whether or not we support religious events in the Park. The old byelaw against preaching and singing hymns has gone but some people strongly believe the Park should be a secular space.
My opinion is that if people want to get together to worship their god that's fine but promotional events are not fine.
We're also discussing this at our meeting this Sunday (2:00pm at the art hut, by the Finsbury Gate, if you're interested).
“Well, I seemed to have missed this comment.. when was it written?”
I would have assumed people would have come to this conclusion.
I wouldn’t have thought that the title should have read “Should we allow Religious nutcases to hold rallies in Finsbury Park”, in that case we would have probably all agreed and said no.

How would you all feel if we closed this one down for a while? Seems to me the main points have been made.
If the oppressors had their way they would have outlawed religion, and other such freedoms and lifestyles that we take for granted.
As much as religion has been at fault for many awful events in the past, it has also been a source of kindness and charity around the world in recent years.
I know it’s only my opinion, but I do find some of the views on here very close to the knuckle. By discriminating against religion you are discriminating against many different cultures in this area.
It seems I have been very wrong about some of the posters on here, which I am very disappointed about.
