Anyone know what the event was in the North West corner of Finsbury Park today? We went past on the W5 and it looked like a lot of people were having fun.

I understand your frustration and I'm not intending to imply that the organisation was faultless, that all the attendees were the perfect neighbourhood guests, or that I wouldn't be a little discombobulated in your position. (You'll notice that I did acknowledge in my post above that I didn't have to suffer this discombobulation.) I'm was just aiming to give some context for your frustration.
Most roads in Harringay, and probably in London, have issues to deal with. For some its traffic and parking. For others it's littering or neighbours from hell. Like you, Ben, I don't like litter on my street, and if what your photos show is litter at higher levels than normal, I'm sure I'd have noticed it too if I lived on your street. When I see occasional litter outside my house at the level in the photos you've added, I tend to pick it up. Usually, it's occasional and the result of some neighbours kids stopping outside the house to consume a takeaway (and for me, understanding that context helps). Luckily like you, it seems, I don't have to deal with it regularly.
The event on Sunday started a few years back to commemorate the life of a Finsbury Park dad who was killed on his motorbike on Seven Sisters Road on the other side of the park. It's now grown into a broader community focussed event. Its aim has also extended to encompass building community strength and fighting the intra-neighbourhood misunderstandings that underpin youth violence.
As I understand it, the event is very grass roots and has a serious community building function. My intention in explaining all this is not to dismiss your concerns, but I'd hoped that if you understood a little about it, it might lessen your sense of frustration.
See this post.
Happy to help clear your street if I can call on you to do the same for mine.:o)
Perhaps the good weather brought out more people than the event organisers were expecting and the event is now big enough to need council management. Lets hope it doesn't kill it off - it would be shame for a community event to be dragged under by Haringey bureaucracy.
And here's the next festival in the park

Quite big names and 6 arenas
And another on the following day

A rave event which finishes at 9pm !!!!!!!!!!?????
Ye gods - from what I can understand it looks like there are 6 or 7 acts playing all at once on different stages for the whole of the weekend. Sounds like a cacophony...
I'm not against the park being used for festivals - in fact I worked at the Wireless one - but I can't find anything about it on Haringey website. Capacity, parking restrictions, license application....
Yes, it seemed like a really fun event. Wish I could've gone, but I was working over the weekend and was absolutely exhausted when I got back. Shame, because it looked lively, lots of people about, great smell of barbecue and a fun atmosphere.
However, I did have two problems with it: firstly, I saw people breaking off fence spars to make holes to climb through, and secondly, there were several cars parked on the grass. Not cool.
Breaking the fencing is definitely not called for.
