Broadband / Fibre-optic Help on the Ladder
Hi all
We are moving to the area next week and I am looking at sorting out a broadband package for a place on Lausanne Road.
I am currently with a private company so will need to move to something like BT, Virgin or Zen.
The flat we are moving into already has Virgin wired up to it.
What are people on the Ladder using and which packages are you going for? Looking for something reliable & fast, no traffic shaping or caps.

Ed, that's a good deal. Is that open to customers only using their broadband, or does one need to hook into a 3 service deal?

Other side of the ladder (Glenwood Road) where we don't get BT Infinity, but Virgin Broadband at 30MB costs me £24/month, no phoneline no TV no frills.
They just emailed trying to upgrade me to 120MB so the speed is here, no problem.
Traffic management rules are that they only restrict upload, not download . There's some restriction on P2P and Newsgroup formats (i.e. non-http web traffic) but TBH I am still getting Game of Thrones in <10 minutes, so it's not severe...
Customer service is good - as was BT Infinity in my previous flat.

We moved in to a house on Lausanne Rd at the end of January. It took until about 3 weeks ago to get Virgin Media to sort out the broadband access despite hassling them on an almost daily basis. There were a comedy of errors on their part but essentially there wasn't enough cable available on the road so they had to dig the road to put more in. We then had an issue with the phone line which still hasn't been resolved - a corroded cable for the phone. We were living on the Ladder before moving to Lausanne and used Virgin then and never had an issue. I think its been really bad luck and if the flat you are moving to already has Virgin you might have better luck than us!

Hey Jonny, what upload do you get? Currently I am on 100mb up and down and I actually get that speed, when I talked to Virgin, they said the upload is only 10% of the download.
