Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Just spotted as I staggered past with bags of shopping that the new cafe where Haringey Flooring used to be has opened and is serving free coffee (if you go today 23rd April).

The cafe appears to have a large play area for kids out the back and comfy chairs etc at the front. As I was only passing, I couldn't go in (or take a decent photo it seems) but initial feedback from the mum of a youngster who was coming out was that's it's nice.

Anyone tried it today?

Yeah we (me and my two kids - age 10months and 4) tried it yesterday and stayed for a coule of hours and had a great time. Great for little kids but it will get boisterous once you get a few too many in the kids ball bit. They will need to put an age limit on the space..definately needs responsible parenting or there will be accidents or just too rough so we wont want to go. The cafe itself seemed nice enough. Totally different experience to Blend though as doesn't have the sophistication or the amazing food and cakes etc. Different market really. Great to have options on the doorstep.

I am glad that there is now a cafe close to where Obergine (aka The Corner Cafe and Delices du Jour) used to be and I hope it stays the course.  So far I have dropped in once for coffee and to read the newspaper.  Service was fine.  If you sit down in the front section (which is blissfully far from the kids play area) you will be spotted on the CCTV and a waiter will appear.  Otherwise, you can order at the counter and it will be brought to your table.

On Sunday, there was a charming Hungarian waitress drumming up custom at the door.  Yesterday, I saw the Polish couple who run the place which perhaps explains the preponderance of rather nice looking Polish bottled deicacies on sale by the counter.

Next step will be a cooked breakfast - the true test!

Agreed that from the outside it looks more like the Cypriot Social Club next door. Maybe the punters who seemed to be sitting there all afternoon on Saturday got in by mistake. Also the kid area not really an attraction for non-parents. And the window is so covered in cr*p that it makes it hard to look inside.

It might be OK for some people but for us nothing can beat Blend atm - especially now that they also serve bagels after 3 pm! \o/

I would like to express my amazed feelings about the new Passion Cafe. I have been there already three times, I love it!

From outside it looks very appealing, with Italian-style furnitures, sofas, chairs and little tables. Very cozy and they offer free wifi! So, you can just sit in there, have a cup of coffee and work from your pc in peace!

When you go more inside, you find a super friendly Polish girl greeting you and a welcoming playground for kids in the back. This kids area is smartly set up on the back, so that if you a parent, you can still sit in that section, supervising your baby playing while sipping a lovely and delicious cup of coffee. Otherwise, if you just want to be more relaxed, you can sit in the front section, isolated from noise and far from the children area!

I usually order a cappuccino and believe it or not, being Italian, I find it delicious! Foamy as it should be and very tasty! The service is amazing, the girls are always smiley and friendly and they always making me feel at home.

I used to go to Blend for years, but I think Passion Cafe is different! In terms of service and food, I prefer 100 times Passion Cafe. The cakes are amazing, especially the Apple and cinnamon and the cherry one is the best! Also the drinks are delicious, you can find Italian juices, organic Polish juices, both fresh from one of the fridge but also at room temperature, which I think is a brilliant idea if you go there with kids. Also, everyday the staff prepare fresh portions of fruit made for children as well as fresh panini and sandwiches. The breakfast is the top: you can choose from the Traditional British one (sausage muffin, bacon, toast) to porridge with fruit, warm croissants, muffins.

I was talking to the owner, she told me that she painted everything by herself! It is amazing looking at the result, coffee beans are all over tables, chairs and the ceiling as well! The floor is wooden except from the kids area where there is carpet in different bright colours which really suits the kids area!

I am very happy with this new place and I think it just needs more people to get to know it as the atmosphere is perfect, music not so loud, kids area well structured, service is the top, coffee the best in this area and the cakes are delicious!!

It is good to have a place like this in Haringey!

cappuccino should be creamy not foamy!

defo creamy!!

:-)

I have now had a splendid baguette filled with bacon and Polish sausage.  This was very good and well presented.  I like the decor and the feeling that the people in charge are keen to please.

So far I am happy with this place which is conveniently located for me.

I went to Passion today and really enjoyed their friendly and helpful service, delicious cakes and freshly made bread they made for their polish sausage and cheese baguette (yum 10 out of 10). I enjoyed talking with Anya who has worked very hard with her partner Dominic transforming the old Haringey Flooring shop to furnish and decorate this charming new cafe in a very special way. I am a keen admirer of and visitor to Blend and I see Passion as a welcome new addition to the burgeoning Haringey Green Lanes cafe society. I am a 'flat-white' girl and that was just perfect for  me. Anya knows that she needs to improve the front window so that people can see in more clearly so go visit HoLers and enjoy. I definitely want to go back to try more things from their modest but intriguing menu. My problem now though is I have three great cafes to choose from - Cafe Lemon, Blend or Passion - oh dear, my life just gets harder!

I had a coffee, friendly staff, had a lovely myrtle and yogurt pot, good range of organic preserves like green gauge in syrup. Great for a little espace enfant to play, good little respite for young parents.

Charming addition to the 'hood. A lovely welcome, fine bacon sarnie and good coffee. I also liked that the parents and kids could do their thing at the back and the old codgers like me could relax in comfy seats and enjoy the free wi-fi in peace.

We went to see this new place about week or two after opening. My little son loved it that much, that next day he woke up with words "go coffee shop, balls"

Friendly staff, great playing area, nice enviroment, good quality food and coffee prepared exactly as you ask for without any hassle.

We got very regular customers since, spending more time there, then in park, which I feel impersonal. My son made first friends in this coffee on first visit. Never managed that in any other playground.

Quite a surprising place. Good place to work with laptop in evening, open late. Food is tasty and they say is cooked on site do check it out.
