Shut out by Castle Stone Roses, but able to hear some tantalising sounds of what's to come tonight:

Was able to hear a bit from my flat but looking forward to the set tomorrow

My brother-in-law, who has waited all his life to see this band, was really disappointed by tonight's gig. Mind you, his expectations may have been little high.

Oh dear. REally? I'm off tonight. Tbh I am not expecting it to blow me away or anything (my boyfriend won't even come and is referring to it as their 'Tax Return Tour' but I do think it will be a lot of fun. How can you not have fun watching the Roses?' :D

Also - Johnny Marr! His new album's a corker. I'm looking forward to him equally...

I went last night and to be honest wasn't expecting too much. Absolutely amazing apart from the usual overpriced cooking lager etc.

Nice one! Were the pubs all absolutely heaving or did you not go down that route beforehand or afterwards?

Went to the Finsbury before hand, pretty packed. Most folk seemed to be having a few offie take outs in the park. Drinks in there extremely limited choice and £4.50 a pop.

I may go down tonight and sit outside, you'll have a ball!

Toilets also an issue, pretty much a free for all up the fence!

Yes that really "pisses" me off - they sell a given number of tickets and fill them up with beer etc but don't provide enough loos for the punters. Surely there must be regulations about this.

I caught someone having a wee on my car last night...

Hey. Yup, the toilet provision really was the worst I've seen - it's a shame, because it was a storming gig and I had a great time. However, I missed nearly half of PIL's set due to a 25 minute toilet queue, which just seemed incredible! At most festivals/gigs there's a bit of queueing, but I've never been to one where it wasn't possible to still plan toilet visits around sets.

I've also never seen *quite* so many men publicly urinating...and before anyone comments, I'm sure this said more about the planning than it did about Stone Roses fans.

I wonder how they got it so wrong!

Remember my headline about this same music promoter last November guys?

‘No toilets’ music promoter makes application for permanent Finsbur...

I wrote to the council about the application at the time, Hugh. The worrying thing was it seemed very open-ended. I have to say, though, that so far it has not been too loud - usually I can hear the concerts much more clearly from here!

I don't mind the occasional concert in the park, but it must be well-organised, not cause too much disruption to residents and leave the park as far as possible undamaged. Wonder how this will pan out? It was annoying that the hoardings were already up last weekend, closing off a substantial area of public recreation space at one of the best times of the year.

That was for Green Day...two gigs in two weeks. It was quite alarming how much they did close off though - I was there on the Friday night and watched with growing disbelief as they put the fences up AROUND people still in the courts playing tennis!

Dear All

Have just read this thread about the concert. The promoters are required to ensure the event is run properly and with adequate provision and amenities for the crowd. When the apply for their license that is made clear and conditions are placed on the license.

Licensing and Enforcement officers from the Council are usually at these very large gigs to monitor them and ensure the applicants are complying, and I am sure they will be interested to read your comments. I will send the link to Daliah Barrett who leads on licensing for the Council and ask her what steps the Council will take to ensure that the promoters are held to account for lack of toilets, allowing people to urinate publicly etc.

If you feel this was badly managed and caused extensive problems you have the right as residents to  to call for a review of the license. That is a considerable process so at this point it might be better to let Daliah know your concerns.
