Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

For a few days now I've suspected something was afoot with Turnpike Lane's Banksy; it's been surrounded by scaffolding and tarpaulin since Wednesday - and there was a security van present for much of that time.

This morning I had a sneaky look under said tarpaulin to find it had been removed. I spoke to the guy rendering the wall and he said that after repeated attempts to gouge it out, the owner of the Poundland building had decided to take steps to 'preserve' it. He wasn't sure where it's gone...one can only wonder if it's been sold. Sad to see it go - it was nice to have a landmark of sorts...

Love your image Eugene. Images are better than links ... was all :)

Thanks, but how did you do that?

Have we not got the name and address of the owner yet?

It was posted several pages ago.

If you mean the link:
http://wck2.companieshouse.gov.uk//wcframe?name=accessCompanyInfo

I cant access that - if you could cut and paste the name and address, that would be great.

But I understood, that address is for company's accountants and not the actual owner.

I think its a waste of time begging to Fine Art Auctions for its removal of sale.  They wont care about local public outcry when they are on the other side of the world.  And as they state, its all above board and legal to them.

I want to hear the reason/s for with the buildings owner, of why they decided to screw over local people and our areas futures history, by selling it.

We can moan about another attack on us or we can try and do something.   Others will follow, if we dont act.

The info is all available in the public domain and I found his address and the other shareholder fairly easily through some company search tools.

I assume someone looked at the land registry to identify that that was the company who owned the building. Personally I haven't done that as I'm not interested enough to spend the few quid to get the report so I won't post up the other details.

The info is out there if you want it but I'd make sure that you verify everything yourself first, it's easy to make a mistake on these kind of things.

Yeah maybe Directorcheck have it wrong ... who knows. What the hell is HOLLYWOOD BABE LIMITED?

According to the Standard the FBI have asked the police to investigate ...

http://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/fbi-urges-probe-into-missing-...

It quotes two names as directors, Robert Davies and Les Gilbert, who have so far said nothing at all.

I'm not convinced that is his work, but if it is, I like to think its all because of the email I sent him

Someone I trust http://www.flickr.com/photos/thelonelyvillein/ is pretty sure it's not a Banksy rat.

Re: Banksy's 'Slave Labour', see the story - http://www.guardian.co.uk/artanddesign/2013/feb/22/banksy-mural-mia...
The owners of the Poundland building where Banksy's piece of street art once lived wouldn't admit involvement in its removal. FAAM have since stated that the buildings owners sold it to them. Today (Saturday) between 12.30-1.30pm Sky news will cover the story at the site. Cllr Alan Stickland has asked if concerned residents would turn up to talk about it in a last ditch attempt to halt the sale, scheduled for tomorrow in Miami. Please pass on this info to interested people. If able to go tomorrow to the site at Whymark Avenue, Turnpike Lane, Alan asked if people could text him on 07854481050. People have also been emailing the gallery directly, so if you get a moment please add your voice: info@faamiami.com
